Dragonite has been announced as the next playable character in Pokémon Unite.

The Pokémon Unite update will arrive on December 15, 2021, adding the sea guardian to the PokéMOBA game as a creature gamers can use from December 20, 2021.

A new trailer was released by The Pokémon Company and TiMi Studio Group, showing not only Dragonite but detailing the holiday themed content that is set to arrive later this month.

Snowball Battle is a new game mode that will be playable, which looks a bit like a digital game of freeze tag. Players that are defeated get frozen to the spot inside of a snowman, and are forced to watch the match as a spectator until they are rescued by teammates in order to be able to return and help their team out.

Also starting on December 15, 2021 is The Illumination Challenge, which involves doing tasks to light up a Christmas tree for rewards. While we haven’t tried out the new features, challenges and new game mode, you’ll also be able to dress up Snorlax in fancy chef whites, so we’re honestly fans of the big update already.

It was also announced that if you play between January 1, 2022 and January 3, 2022, you’ll be able to try out every single one of the pocket monsters in the game for free outside of ranked mode matches, so it feels like a good time to play Pokémon Unite in general.
