It’s Pikmin’s 20th anniversary! would you believe it’s been nearly twenty years since its Pikmin’s original launch on the GameCube. The Pikmin games were beloved for their cute and simplistic garden strategy gameplay.

And now, after all this time, we’re getting a new reimagining of the franchise with Niantic. The creators of Pokemon Go have partnered with Shigeru Miyamoto to create a new strategy, collecting and exploring mobile game.

Although made by the Pokemon Go developers, this new game isn’t quite as similar to the Pokemon mobile game as you might think. Instead, each of your little Pikmin will have plenty of personality as they wander in groups over your neighbourhood. Big fans of the Pikmin will quickly see how similiar they are, even on this new mobile game.

But as with Pokemon Go, there’s some focus on step count. As well as a scrapbook feature to memorise the day and create a more relaxed and mellow experience.

Pikmin Bloom release date

The game is set to release for players in Australia and Singapore on the 27th. With possibly a week’s delay for players in the UK, US and other territories.

How does Pikmin Bloom play?

The game has a largely simple premise. You plant flowers, scattering flower petals which will leave a path of bloomed flowers. This will speed up the Pikmin shoots you have incubating, charges up nearby flower stem locations and earns you come flower coins.

You then refill your flower petals by sending your Pikmin off on Expeditions to collect pieces of fruit. Oranges, lemons, limes and other fruit can be turned into nectar which you can then feed to your Pikmin. Expeditions can also let you find new Pikmin shoots of different colours.

Then at the end of your walk, you switch off your flower trail and receive a notification of your step count!

Once the game is fully released, give it a try and see if the cute little Pikmin can win you over!
