Although we might have had the RTX generation for a few years now, the Nvidia GTX is finally ceasing production as the 16 series is rumored to be finishing. Thus marking the end of quite an era in graphics card history. What was more of a budget choice of many, with questionable performance and specs to the newer stuff did have a place in the market but that is ending.

GTX 16 GPU series production end rumors
As reported by Videocardz, the series of GTX GPUs is finally finishing. A prefix that has spanned tens of years in Nvidia’s lineup is now coming to a close. Now replaced by the RTX generations that started with the 20 series, it did come with new hardware including features like ray tracing and AI, it brought around a new plentiful hardware choice for many decades to come.
According to the report, the Board Channels forum has stated that the Turing architecture has been discontinued and will only last while stocks last. This does follow the rumors from December last year that in Q1 the family will come to an end. But they did lack the niceties of RT and DLSS that are now by default found in RTX entirely.
Supposedly only the GTX 1650 and 1630 are the only ones still left to be stopped shipping, as previous GTX 16 Super models have already been ceased by Nvidia. Support of course will continue like we saw with older cards even dating back to the GTX 900, but you will lack creature comforts and helpful features. Plus it makes the likes of the RTX 2050 and 3050 the entry point available from Team Green.
The quote coming from the Chinese source report is as follows:
According to the Nvidia GPU product roadmap, the GTX 16 series has been completely discontinued in the first quarter of 2024. Currently, all remaining GPU stock has been allocated to AIC brand manufacturers until their inventories are depleted.
In other words, Nvidia has officially ceased production of the GTX 16 series GPUs, declaring the historical mission of discontinuing the GTX 1660S, 1660, 1650, and 1630 graphics cards. Going forward, neither Nvidia nor the core AIC brand manufacturers will supply GTX 16 GPUs to channel partners. It is estimated the remaining inventory of GTX 16 series in the market will be consumed withing the next 1-3 months.
