OnePlus recently officially launched its first budget smartphone of the year, the Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, in several regions. Now the rumor has it; the company is already in the process of releasing a mid-range smartphone, the OnePlus Nord 3. According to recent reports, this will be a rebranded OnePlus Ace 2V, as the revealed specs look identical to the Ace 2V, launched in China months ago.

So, here’s what we know about the mid-range OnePlus Nord 3 and its release date.

OnePlus Ace 2V release date / OnePlus Nord 3 release date prediction

Just to confirm, the Ace 2V has already been released in China back in March. The global version will be known as the OnePlus Nord 3. This seems to have been confirmed, with leaked images being posted on Twitter on May 18th. Based on the model numbers posted, it’s expected that the OnePlus Nord 3 will be enjoying a Europe and India launches soon.

According to Yogesh Brar, a reliable leaker, OnePlus has already started testing the Nord 3 in Indian and global markets. As per his Tweet, the new mid-range handset from OnePlus will; be launched after six to eight weeks from the time of the post. That makes the estimated time frame for the launch date around the end of May or early July. This is backed up by another leak from Mukul Sharma, who spotted an early listing on the official Indian OnePlus website.

Indian tech site 91Mobiles reports 21st June 2023, but we’re not sure where they’ve got this information from, or how reliable it is. We will update our page after the company reveals the official release date.

OnePlus Nord 3 specs / OnePlus Ace 2V specs

Yogesh Brar not only revealed a release window for OnePlus’s new mid-range headset, but the reliable tipster also laid out apparent OnePlus Nord 3 specs, which seem to align with the OnePlus Ace 2V specifications.

Currently, these are the only confirmed specs. However, we will update the page as soon as more details arrive.

• Screen Size: 6.7-inches, 120 Hz refresh rate 
• Display: 1.5K OLED
• Chipset: MediaTek Dimensity 9000 (similar performance to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1)
• RAM: 8 GB/ 16 GB (Not confirmed yet, but Ace 2V has the same config)
• Storage: 128 GB/256 GB (Not confirmed yet, but Ace 2V has the same config)
• Camera: 64 MP, 8 MP, and 2 MP triple camera array on the handset’s rear. Also, a 16 MP selfie camera is on the front.
• Battery: 5,000 mAh battery
• Charging: 80W SuperVooc fast charging

Lastly, Yogesh Brar has also shared the Indian pricing for the upcoming OnePlus Nord 3. The tipster claims the Nord 3 will retail for around INR 30,000 to INR 40,000 (~$366 to ~$485). In contrast, the OnePlus Nord 2 was launched with an INR 27,999 (~$341) price tag. So, we are probably looking at a price bump.

On the flipside, other speculation claims that the OnePlus Nord 3 5G model will release at INR 27,999, just the same as the previous generation. This would convert to around $342. Again, this is yet to be officially confirmed, so everything is up in the air at the moment.

If we do indeed see a similar pricing model as the Nord 2, here’s how it looked when it released a couple of years ago:

OnePlus Nord 3 features we want to see

There are a few things we’d like to see in the newest OnePlus Nord phone, especially when compared to the old Nord 2.

120Hz screen refresh rate

One of the first things, and one which is rumored to actually be happening, is the jump up to 120Hz. The Nord 2 only had a 90Hz screen, albeit with stunning HDR10+ technology. Regardless, some high-end phones are going for 144Hz and beyond, so it seems like a good time for mid-range phone like the OnePlus Nord to make the leap.

More collaborations

Customization and collaborations are fun to see. OnePlus hasn’t been shy to work with other brands and IPs to bring their unique artwork to their phones. One fairly recent example is the Genshin Impact collaboration. We would love to see this kind of things for the release of the Nord 3 too.

App throttling off by default

Reduced throttling would all do us a world of good. Previous reports have landed OxygenOS in hot water, as it seemed that the Android skin used by OnePlus was throttling apps and affecting the performance of your device. Although this was eventually resolved by added a new option to toggle off throttling, some may not realize that throttling is turned on by default. This can hinder your performance and is a good thing to look out for if you get your hands on a brand-new OnePlus Nord 3 / OnePlus Ace 2V.

Alert Slider

The Alert Slider is a feature that you’ll find on older OnePlus devices, and early leaks seem to confirm that it’s back. Which is great, because it’s something we wanted to see. For the uninformed, the Alert Slider allows you to control the volume of your notifications with a little physical switch on the side of the phone.
