Intel has big plans coming up with the Intel Innovation event. This is the event where Intel reveals everything that’s going on behind closed doors, and about everything that Intel plans to reveal this year. Last year, we got the 13th gen and the Intel ARC GPUs, this year seems just as big. Intel Raptor Lake refresh could be announced September 19th.

Raptor Lake refresh could be announced on September 19th – alongside Meteor Lake

It’s pretty unclear what Intel is planning this year, as there are more than a few rumors floating around as to exactly what’s in the works this year.

Intel has scheduled the 2023 Innovation event to take place on September 19th, 2023. 8 days before the 2022 event. There are two main releases to look out for this year, very different from each other.

Intel Raptor Lake Refresh

The Raptor Lake refresh is exactly how it sounds, a refresh of the Raptor Lake architecture. However, it’s rumored to have a much higher clock speed than the current set of Raptor Lake CPUs, between 6.2 to 6.5 GHz according to Wccftech.

The Raptor Lake refresh will also sit in the same LGA 1700 socket, good news if you’re understandably reluctant to change your $500 motherboard.

Meteor Lake

The Meteor Lake architecture will also encompass the 14th generation of Intel CPUs but follow a different naming convention. Instead of “Core i” you’ll be seeing names like “Core Ultra”. This is a change recently announced in April by Intel themselves. This makes sense if we’re essentially going to have a 14th generation consisting of two architectures.

Meteor Lake will also sit on the LGA LGA 1851 socket, this differs from the LGA 1700 socket that seats the 12th and 13th-generation Intel CPUs.

Confused about the state of Intel 14th gen?

It will all be cleared up in the upcoming Intel innovation event in September. There have been some particularly wild rumors spun around the 14th generation of Intel CPUs, and with a lot changing i can be hard to follow.

All you need to know is that this is going to be great for the consumer, as Meteor Lake is going to be built on the efficient yet powerful 7nm (Intel 4) process providing performance as we’ve never seen before.
