Following its initial announcement on October 13th, 2021, the new Ricochet anti-cheat software has finally been rolled out to all PC Warzone players worldwide.

According to the Call of Duty official blog, the PC kernel-level driver will automatically install when you update Call of Duty Warzone Pacific, and gamers will not be able to play Warzone without it. However, the initial announcement did put (honest) users’ minds at rest, as the driver is only ever in use when Warzone is running, and will always close down with the game itself.

What is COD’s Ricochet Anti-cheat?

RICOCHET ANTI CHEAT cod warzone rollout

The Ricochet Anti-Cheat system is Call of Duty’s new Anti-Cheat software, with Activision and the other COD publishers and developers trying to put a stop to cheating in Call of Duty once and for all.

The initiative only affects PC users directly, in terms of the software only being rolled out to PCs, but will have an indirect effect on console gamers as well, due to the decrease in cheaters in cross-platform gameplay.

The way Ricochet will work is multi-faceted, with the kernel-level driver just the beginning of the end for Call of Duty cheaters. Team Ricochet will constantly monitor the information being driven back to them with this new driver, as well as implement more rigorous investigation processes to any reports of cheating. This latter part means Activision are, of course, still encouraging users to manually report any instances of cheating they might witness in game. By combining these efforts, Team Ricochet hopes to stamp cheating out for good.

Is Call of Duty Ricochet available for Vanguard?

While Ricochet has now been rolled out to Warzone Operatives worldwide, the Vanguard rollout is still to follow. We’ll update you as soon as we hear more about the full Vanguard deployment of Ricochet Anti-cheat.
