Someone has finally designed a Switch-like Dock for the Steam Deck

Have you ever looked at your Steam Deck and thought “Damn, I wish this was a Switch?” no? We neither, but now you can dock your Steam Deck just like a Switch. All jokes aside, the custom dock seems to be turning a few heads in the community. All you need is a 3D printer because Someone has finally designed a Switch-like Dock for the Steam Deck.

If you ever wanted to dock your Deck like the folks can over at Nintendo, now you can. All it’s going to cost is whatever the going rate is for a spool of PLA filament these days, oh, and a 3D printer, of course.

As fun as it is to write and say “Steam Deck Switch Dock” A handful of users on Reddit have pointed out a potential flaw in the design of the dock.

“Cool concept, but the vents are blocked,” says RapidMiner55, however, they are incorrect. It seems the creator of this design, Lordmulgath, had thought about that and inverted an arch into the supporting plastic to make way for the Steam Deck vents. However, it seems there is little space for the Exhaust vents, which might be something that could be improved in later designs.

All in all, we think this is a pretty cool idea for those who don’t want to either buy the current Steam Deck Dock from Valve or just like the design of this one. Either way, we hope Nintendo doesn’t come for Lordmulgath because they used the word “Switch” in the title of their creation.

We’re currently in the process of printing this design and we’ll update this page with our thoughts, don’t wait. We’re going to be printing for a while. Probably long enough for you to go out and buy the official Steam Deck Dock.
