Starfield is already a fantastic game on its own, but it’s far from perfect. Despite the game still being in Early Access, there are already thousands of mods out there for Starfield that range from UI updates to silly texture replacements. These are the best Starfield mods so far.

The official release of Starfield stands on the 6th of September, so here are the best mods we have found for Starfield so far, before the game even officially launches, how’s that for efficiency?

The best Starfield Mods so far – A Quick Look

These are the mods we have listed as the best Starfield mods in our opinion. They’re also linked so just click through to the ones you’re interested in and it’ll take you straight to NexusMods.

These mods are all designed to make the game experience better, not drastically change the game. With that being said, let’s jump into what we consider to be the best Starfield mods so far.

Starfield Script Extender (SFSE)

Starfield Script Extender

This name probably looks familiar to you, what with OBSE, SKSE, NVSE, and so on being so essential to other games. Script extenders are required, for Bethesda games especially, to communicate with the mods that modders make for the games.

In a nutshell, the Starfield Script Extender will allow most (if not all) of the mods on this list to function correctly. That’s why it’s number one. Make sure you check the mod requirements and prerequisites, as the mod may require others, like SFSE, to function.

Starfield Upscaler

Starfield Upscaler

Starfield was met with some criticism when fans found out that the game will only natively support AMD software, such as FSR, on launch. This mod fixes that issue, it allows players to replace the FSR functionality with either DLSS or XeSS if you’re an Intel user.

Neutral LUTs

Neutral LUTs

This is a tiny mod that makes a big difference if you’re not a fan of the color grading in-game. This mod removes the colored tinges to the game to make the world of Starfield appear far more neutral, with better colors and deeper blacks.

Achievement Enabler

Achievement enabler

This mod is for those of you who got a little naughty with console commands. Some of those commands will have disabled your ability to get achievements, either on Steam or Game Pass for PC. If you want to earn achievements again, you can download this mod.

It will set your save file as clean and will allow you to earn achievements again, even after you have used the in-game console.

Starfield Performance Optimizations

Starfield performance optimizations

This is a complex mod that optimizes how Starfield runs, it alters your settings and tweaks some of the things that aren’t necessarily available to you in-game in order to aid the performance of Starfield.

With some of the player base complaining about performance, it’s easy to see why this mod may be on the list. This mod now also adds a “Patatoe mode” to Starfield, to allow you to really turn things down.

BetterHUD

Better HUD

BetterHUD tweaks the Starfield Heads-Up Display, which enhances the HUD in Starfield. This mod reduces the size of the location text and the XP indicator, relocating them to the bottom of the screen.

Additionally, it provides the option to hide the XP indicator, enemy health bars, and hit markers entirely, as well as offering an alternative dot crosshair.

Cleanfield

cleanfield

This Starfield mod does exactly what it says on the tin. The Cleanfield mod removes intro videos, and de-clutters the main menu of the game, making for a better experience when starting up the game. Nobody likes pop-ups.

Starfield FOV

Starfield FOV

This is a text file that shows you how to change your In-game FOV via the .ini file in your documents. So it’s not technically a mod, more of a tutorial. Very good to have if you play on anything over a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Enhanced Player Healthbar

Starfield enhanced player healthbar

The Advanced Player Healthbar mod for Starfield may be simple, but it does a lot for immersion. This mod changes the color of your health bar depending on your health percentage. It’s a nice pop of color on the screen that really stands out and gives you a sense of urgency when the health bar hits red.

Undelayed Menus

Undelayed menus

The Undelayed Menus mod for Starfield is designed to enhance the responsiveness of menus and significantly improve the overall user experience within the game. There’s nothing worse than having a slow menu in a fast-paced game. This mod aims to fix that issue.

Modding – a final word

That’s about all we have for you regarding our best Starfield mods so far. We just wanted to speak on the topic of modding for a second.

We don’t consider modding cheating, Starfield is a single-player game and you can go nuts with the number of mods you install, and the only person’s experience you affect is your own. What we do dislike however is modding or cheating in a multiplayer game. That’s a big no-no for us.

Starfield is an already wonderful game, but it can be improved ever so slightly to make it much more than what it already is. These Starfield mods will make your game much more enjoyable, without changing too much of the general feel.
