The Finals is so optimized it’ll run on even the worst hardware we have in the office, the GT 710, We’d hazard a guess to say The Finals is so well-optimized would probably run on your grandma’s PC. This is a testament to the developers over at Embark, and their ability to craft a game that works so well on even the oldest of hardware.

Now my Grandma isn’t a pro gamer, but yours might be, or at the very least she might want to be, and the good news is that she probably can be. If she wants to play The Finals, that is.

With that being said, it’s not a pretty sight, but the fact we’re able to get some of the numbers we manage on a GT 710 is a miracle, and it’s not something that would happen with many modern games out there today. The Finals could be your nan’s favorite game since it’ll run on pretty much anything.

The Finals – So well-optimized your Grandma’s PC could probably run it

We simulated the ultimate grandma PC by using an Nvidia GT 710 – A GPU that has often been regarded as one of the worst GPUs that you can buy today. So naturally, Grandma has one. The GT 710 is so weak, that even some CPUs from a couple of years ago have stronger integrated graphics.

These facts mattered not to The Finals, as we will now demonstrate.

We have the GT 710 running The Finals in 1080p, on Low settings across the board, and the resolution scale turned down to half. So with potato mode enabled, the GT 710 manages to squeeze out around 13 FPS on average in the practice area. Which is awful, don’t get me wrong, but still playable.

The real surprise comes from the numbers we manage to get in 720p if you can bare what I like to call Pixeltown.

What’s even more surprising is the fact that the GT 710 can manage even playable numbers in any modern game. In 720p, the GT 710 pulls together everything it can muster in 720p to achieve around 29 FPS on average in the practice area. This is with the same settings as the 1080P run.

The results may vary during actual gameplay, but we made sure we threw a couple of grenades around, just to get some VFX going.

This is a testament to how well-optimized the finals actually is, the crew at Embark has done a fantastic job of making a fun, free, accessible game that we can all enjoy, even your Grandma can hop in this one.
