Call of Duty: Warzone has had the Caldera for a very long time, being one of the first couple of maps to be added to the game. Caldera has been really loved by the community, so much so that when Warzone 2.0 was released, now called Warzone, they turned Warzone 1 into Cod: Warzone Caldera.

Caldera turned into a fan-favorite map very early on, which lead to the developers wanting to keep the game alive by converting it to center around Caldera. However, it seems it was short-lived.

Caldera has seen its last days, and players are frustrated at the money lost

Activision made their announcement earlier today that Warzone 1, which was the name changed and updated to Warzone Caldera, will be shutting down officially. This game was meant to be a lot like Call of Duty’s Vanguard, but it seems Caldera has seen its lifespan.

Activision tweeted that Warzone Caldera will officially shut down on September 21, 2023. The only Warzone that will exist after this point is Warzone, which was known as Warfare 2.0 previously. The shutdown is supposed to not affect MW 2019, Black Ops Cold War, or Vanguard Multiplayer, but unfortunately, all gameplay, progression, inventories, and online services will expire on September 21, 2023.

Players are showing distress as they will lose all their money that was placed into skins in Warzone Caldera. Some users went as far as to ask if they would be getting their money back for their skins, showing obvious frustration at this news.

While Call of Duty did promise in their announcement that more exciting content would be coming to Warzone, it doesn’t seem players are that excited but see it as a way to get them to spend more money in the games to later shut them down.

“Deleting Games is a great way for people to realize how much they will be manipulated into spending more for the future!” one Twitter user said.

It is sad to see Warzone Caldera shut down, as this was a game many players loved, but unfortunately, it is coming to an end later this year.
