Mortal Kombat 1 is the up-and-coming fighting game that everyone is excited about, but will you be able to dish out the fatalities on the go? Or will you be confined to a PC or console? Can you play MK1 on the Steam Deck?

Will Mk1 Run on Steam Deck?

First and foremost we can easily check whether or not MK1 is going to be compatible with the Steam Deck when it releases. All we need to do is head over to the official Steam Store page for MK1 and look at the Steam Deck compatibility.

Valve marks the Steam Deck compatibility for MK1 as “Playable” which means exactly what it says, MK1 is playable, but not specifically compatible or optimized for the Steam Deck, though this could change in the future.

Valve has tested MK1 and determined that it’s mostly fine, but you might have some issues with in-game text, but other than that MK1 should be good to play on the Steam Deck as is. Of course, there are probably some tweaks you can do to make the game perform better on the Deck.

However, thanks to the low system requirements of MK1, it should run fairly well on the Steam Deck as-is.

It is possible that further updates to the game could elevate the current text issues that Valve claims to have uncovered, but there may be some in-game options you can change to fix that yourself. Besides the text issues, Valve claims that MK1 is very playable on Steam Deck.
