A YouTuber by the name of Dom claims to have beaten Minecraft using nothing but his mind. You read that right, no keyboard, no mouse, no input at all. Apart from an EEG machine and the power of concentration. This is how a YouTuber claims to beat Minecraft using only his mind.

Now we say “claims” because there’s no irrefutable proof that the YouTuber “only used his brain” as the camera never displays past his torso, not that we’re calling him a liar. We just like to keep things open to interpretation.

If you’re looking for more Minecraft content, we have you covered.

YouTuber Dom is well-known in the Minecraft challenge community, he regularly creates challenge series’ that get millions of views each. But then Dom came out with his most impressive feat yet.

Dom had managed to beat Minecraft using only his brain waves. Wearing a portable EEG device (electroencephalogram), a device used for measuring brain activity, he set off on his journey to beat Minecraft using only his brain waves.

Dom explains that he had to train his brain inside the EmotivBCI software to read his brain activity and transfer that into basic computer inputs, like pressing “W” or “left click”. The way Dom accomplished this, was to visualize moving cube objects inside the software in certain directions to accomplish different inputs.

As Dom states in his video: “For example, to left-click, I’d imagine pulling the cube towards me. To open my inventory, I’d imagine pushing it away

Regardless, it’s an impressive feat to attempt, but is it actually possible? Surely you’d have to be some kind of genius to accomplish such a task?

Is beating Minecraft with your brain actually possible?

As it turns out, yes. using EEG machines to control computers has been around for a few years now. this paper from the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation explains how EEG and PC integration works. While the paper focuses on dry foam-based EEG sensors primarily, shows that not only is gaming with your brain theoretically possible, it is also practically possible.

The exact workings are incredibly complex and involve a perfect amalgamation of brain waves, focus detection algorithms, artifact rejection, and many other complex processes, but completing Minecraft using only your brain is entirely possible – As is general PC operation by brain wave exclusively.

EEG applications such as these also open up gaming and PC use to those who cannot otherwise operate a keyboard and mouse normally. Accessibility is so important in the gaming community because everyone, no matter what should have the opportunity to enjoy a game.

If nothing else, even if this video is entirely fabricated for entertainment purposes, it highlights a very important, and innovative technology that we’re very glad exists.
