We’ve all been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the date that CS2 finally drops for the jo-public. We’ve spent too long watching those with CS2 limited test access parade around in the gloriously remastered lands of CS: GO. Valve is still set on a “Summer 2023” release date, however, there are 2 important dates this Summer that CS2 could be released on.

Of course, Valve doesn’t have to drop CS2 on any of these dates, it could release the game tomorrow for all we know. but one thing is for sure, this is just a prediction, we don’t know anything about the CS2 release date that you don’t. With that being said, let’s jump in.

There are two important days this summer that Valve could release Counter-Strike 2 on

This summer holds a particularly significant date for Valve, in fact, it holds two, or three if you count my birthday. I’ll take you through them now, these are the dates that I think Valve could drop Counter-Strike 2 on us.

CS:GO’s 11th birthday – August 21st 2023

August 21st belongs to CS: GO‘s birthday, CS:GO was released way back in 2012 and continues to be the most popular game on Steam, as you know. I think it would be very fitting that Valve released CS2 on the birthday of the game it’s replacing. Kind of poetic.

Steam’s 20th anniversary – September 12th 2023

September 12th belongs to Steam as it celebrates its 20th anniversary this summer. The question is, which date is more worthy of a CS2 release? We also think that Steam’s birthday would mark a perfect day to release CS2.

After all, the release of CS2 starts a new chapter for Valve and Steam, further lifting the company and the platform into success. And marking a new era of Counter-Strike.

It’s impossible to tell when CS2 will actually release, but as of the time of writing, there are only around 5 weeks left of summer. So, as long as Valve isn’t delayed at all, we shouldn’t have too long to wait.

Will Valve announce the CS2 release date? or release CS2 quietly?

This is an interesting question to ask since we all know there’s nothing Valve need to do to build up more hype around CS2, we’re all very excited.

Valve may not even announce the release date to the public, it might very well just drop the update and leave it for the public to find. Which would be a cool way to do it if you ask me. However, I could also see why it would be considered anti-climatic if done this way.

With that being said, we’re very excited about the release of CS2, there isn’t much time left to wait in reality because 5 weeks can fly by. As long as everything remains on track, we’re going to have a very unproductive summer.
