Who are all the companions in Baldur’s Gate 3? The game is filled with warlocks and wizards as well as barbarians, paladins, and rangers. If you want to cast illusion spells, add a wizard to your party. If you want healing, clerics are the way to go.
After creating your character and choosing whether you want to be a ranger, rogue, or any of the other classes, you will explore the Forgotten Realms, meeting others who share your fate. What quests will you take on?
Will you prefer a more stealth-oriented party that can use sneak attacks? Will you choose the route of romance? How about choosing deception? Larian Studios has many paths you can take but one of the biggest choices is the companions who choose to bring with you. Here are all the companions in Baldur’s Gate 3.
What companions are in Baldur’s Gate 3?
There are 10 companions that can join you on your journey through the Forgotten Realms. The following companions can aid you on your journey:
- Astarion – Astarion is a High-Elf rogue who is also a vampire.
- Shadowheart – Shadowheart is a High Half-Elf cleric that is part of the Trickery Domain.
- Gale – Gale is a Human wizard who aims to become the greatest magic user in the realm.
- Lae’zel – Lae’zel is a Githyanki fighter who aims to prove herself worthy of her people.
- Wyll – Wyll is a Human warlock of noble birth who made a pact with a devil.
- Karlach – Karlach is a Tiefling barbarian who is seeking revenge on the one who sold her to an Archdevil.
The companions above are also known as Origin Characters and are playable characters that you can choose from the beginning of the game instead of creating your own character. Below are additional companions that are not Origin Characters.
- Halsin – Halsin is a Wood Elf druid.
- Minthara – Minthara is a Drow paladin.
- Minsc – Minsc is a human Ranger.
- Jaheira – Jaheira is a Half-Elf druid.
These companions will appear in various areas throughout the story such as the Shattered Sanctum, Druid Grove, or even trapped in a cage aboard a Mind Flayer ship. Each companion has their own stats for ability scores such as Charisma and Wisdom.
Most of the companions in the game will be found during the first act of the game after you have escaped from your pod aboard the Nautiloid. After leaving the crashed Nautiloid, you will find Gale, Shadowheart, Astarion, Lae’zel, Wyll, and Karlach, around the Enchanted Grove/Druid Grove entrance, Dank Crypt, and Risen Road.
Most of the support characters have great proficiencies in skills like athletics, insight, intimidation, sleight of hand, arcana, perception, and acrobatics. This makes all of them useful. Some, like Wyll, even come with good damage spells such as the Eldritch Blast cantrip. The survivability of your character depends on the strength of your allies, so make sure you have characters with good dexterity and maybe even a high intelligence stat.
