Diablo 4 is a game where you can embark on an adventure solo or with your friends; it is totally up to you. However, a lot of players are confused about the game’s nature and wonder if they can play it without an internet connection on PC and console (Xbox or PlayStation). In this guide, we will clarify whether Diablo 4 can be played offline or not.

Can I play Diablo 4 without an internet connection?

Unfortunately, Diablo 4 can not be played offline. This won’t come as a surprise to those who have played the previous games of the series, as both Diablo III and Diablo Immortal require an active internet connection. Therefore, to play Diablo 4, you need a stable internet connection.

It is also important to note that back in 2019, Blizzard Representative clearly mentioned during BlizzCon’s Q&A session that players would need an internet connection and a Battle.net account to play the game. Furthermore, they did not mention anything related to an offline mode, which many players were expecting.

Why is there no offline mode in Diablo 4?

While the lack of an offline mode disappoint many gamers, it is worth noting that Blizzard Entertainment is always releasing new updates for their game, which requires it to be constantly connected to the internet. This is for both PC and console versions of Diablo 4.

Furthermore, some bosses in Diablo 4 can not be defeated alone, like Ashava. No matter how hard you try, you will need help from your friends or other community members. Therefore, an active internet connection will offer a better multiplayer experience for both PC players and console users.

With that said, many players with a bad internet connection will face multiple issues while playing the game. This is something that can entirely ruin their experience, as there is nothing worse than experiencing network issues while exploring dungeons in search of The Butcher or just wandering around the world of Diablo 4 on your mount to complete quests.

A spotty internet connection can also lead to longer queue times, so you’ll need to get used to this as well. In such a case, you need to upgrade to a higher bandwidth package or use an ethernet cable connection if you’re using WiFi.

But if you have a good internet connection and are still facing network issues or an error code, try restarting your internet router. Furthermore, try keeping your router at a closer distance if you’re getting low Mbps speed.
