Looking for what game modes CS2 has? Counter-Strike 2 offers tons of fun for fans of the legendary series as an update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

A variety of game modes has always been available in the CS series from Valve, and they allow you to play different game types to up your skills and get better with your team. Do you need to know what game modes CS2 has? We’re here to give you all the details.

All CS2 game modes

CS2 has a total of five different game modes to play at launch:

  • Deathmatch
  • Casual
  • Wingman
  • Competitive
  • Premier Mode

It has been confirmed by Valve on the Steam Support FAQs page that more modes will be coming to the game in the future. However, these are the handful of game modes currently available for play.

Let’s break them down to see what each one entails.

CS2 What is Deathmatch?

Deathmatch is exactly what it sounds like, two teams opposing each other to the death. There are 10 minutes per match, and the team with the most kills at the end wins. You can accrue more points by using certain weapons, like knives. It’s a classic, and fans are happy to see it return.

CS2 What is Casual?

Casual is very simple, and new players will find it the best mode to start with. The goal is simple, to just shoot every opponent that you come across. This is also a great mode to learn maps, and weapons, and test out team strategies. Classic Casual is an easy mode for beginners and lets veterans get a game sense for the new CS2. These are all unranked matches, as well.

CS2 What is Wingman?

Wingman is a 2v2 mode that is all defusal, no hostage. The maps for this game mode are all smaller, which looks great with the best graphics settings, seeing as how the teams are smaller than the typical 5v5 in other defusal games. This is a great mode to play if you and a buddy want to get better at the game, or if you just prefer smaller lobbies. Wingman games are great for small groups.

CS2 What is Competitive?

Classic competitive is the bread and butter of the CS series. This mode features 5v5 gameplay, with both defusal and hostage maps available. Ranked play means that money will be important to manage while purchasing weapons and gear. CS2 also features a map rank, which allows you to see how good you are on each map in the game mode.

CS 2 What is Premier Mode?

Premier Mode is the top competitive mode in the game. This is where the best of the best come for ranked games. Like Classic Competitive, it’s a 5v5 game, where one team is terrorists trying to detonate the bomb and the other team tries to prevent them. If you win 13 rounds, it’s enough to win a match. This means that Premier Mode takes a bit longer than other game modes.

Each game mode has its pros and cons, and depending on your playstyle, it’s best to try them all to see what you like best. Community servers are also going to be added soon, to be able to play with your own group. There are achievements to earn, weapon customization like stickers and name tags, and plenty more to find.
