Mouse acceleration in CS2 is pretty contested because instead of being an option, it’s off by default. Now, obviously, mouse acceleration is a personal choice and some gamers prefer it on rather than off.

For those who don’t know, mouse acceleration is when you move your mouse faster on your desk, leading to your cursor moving further in the game. It effects your mouse movement and pointer precision. Regardless of how far you move the mouse, if you move it slower, the distance will be less than if you move it faster. Below we’ll show you your options for CS2 and why this is different from CS:GO.

Can I turn on mouse acceleration for CS2?

Unfortunately, CS2 does not come with mouse acceleration nor is there a way to switch it on. Valve has removed this feature from the game, and there is currently no way to re-enable it. So if you’re used to the helpfulness of mouse acceleration, we recommend getting a really good mouse for CS2 because you’ll need all the help you can get.

There are easily some third-party tools you can use but we recommend against it. Using third-party software can interfere with the game’s performance and may even get you banned.

The best thing to do is just to mess with your mouse settings, in-game settings, start menu, pointer options, or mouse properties to make sure your mouse does the job it needs to.

Why doesn’t CS2 have mouse acceleration?

The Counter-Strike series is incredibly competitive and has some of the best FPS players around. They need to be accurate; having something like mouse acceleration may help move around quickly but kills accuracy. Since the mouse increases distance based on speed, you don’t have complete control over where it goes, so you’re more likely to overshoot on a reaction hit.

To be clear, no pro-CS player uses mouse acceleration so it makes more sense to have it off by default. They all have their preferred sensitivity, DPI, gaming mouse, and normally prefer not to have the randomness of mouse acceleration.

You may need some time to adjust to playing without mouse acceleration if you are used to it. Most players, however, find that disabling mouse acceleration improves their aim and accuracy. This all has to do with personal preference, and your mouse DPI is all up to you.

Not having mouse acceleration is bad, but your gameplay experience won’t worsen if you lower the acceleration value – or need for its use – by getting better without it.

Will CS2 ever add mouse acceleration back in?

It is impossible to predict whether mouse acceleration will be added back to CS2. There have been no announcements from Valve about this, so it is impossible to know what their plans are. Several players have expressed a desire to restore mouse acceleration to the game, while others prefer to keep it disabled. It may be possible for Valve to add mouse acceleration back in at some point, but there is no guarantee.

It is not possible to say for sure whether CS2 will ever add mouse acceleration back in. Valve has not made any announcements about this, and there is no way to know for sure what their plans are.

Some players have expressed their desire for mouse acceleration to be added back to the game, while others prefer to keep it disabled. Valve may eventually add mouse acceleration back in, but there is no guarantee.

There are a few things you can do to improve your aim in CS2:

  • Adjust your mouse sensitivity
  • Use a mouse with a high DPI or CPI
  • Practice your aim regularly

The best thing to do is to make sure you’re comfortable with your mouse and how sensitive it is. There’s a lot of things players need to do to become pros and having a high DPI or CPI helps outside of in-game sensitivity. We recommend making sure that your DPI setting and Windows sensitivity are where they need to be. You can generally find this in the control panel.

Otherwise, you can use the mouse software to up your overall gaming experience. You can enhance your pointer’s precision by making sure it’s correct in your settings. This makes your that you have the best mouse settings even without mouse acceleration.
