Can you finally play Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty with friends? CD Projekt Red announced multiplayer for the game before the launch of it. Thanks to Cyberpunk 2077’s unsavory release, the game got changed to single-player, and multiplayer mode fell off the radar.
With the Cyberpunk franchise now going strong on the different consoles and the game in a much better place, talk of online elements has resurfaced. The switch of priorities over to a new DLC was well-placed and not Cyberpunk is in a really good state.
The multiplayer Cyberpunk topic has been brought up multiple times over the course of the past few years. Is there still a chance it will become a reality? Is Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer?

Nope. While it is unfortunate to hear, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty is not multiplayer. The game is unlikely to receive a multiplayer game mode, even with though this is a DLC to add new additions.
Ages ago, senior quest designer Philipp Weber stated that the reason the multiplayer was scrapped was due to the game’s terrible launch. He mentioned this during an interview with Eurogamer. If you were paying attention to the game at the time, you know how bad things went for the company.
It is slightly sad to realize that we may never get an official multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. At least the game has since seen multiple updates and been revamped.
While the story-driven title won’t be getting any multiplayer elements from the developers, there may still be hope for the game mode. Modders, similar to those who created multiplayer mods for Fallout 4 and Hogwarts Legacy, are working on creating a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.
The single-player experience of Cyberpunk 2077 may yet turn into a multiplayer one thanks to mods. Of course, you can still play the Phantom Liberty DLC when it releases and pre-order it to get bonuses leading up to the launch.
