Originally, Darkest Dungeon 2 hit early access back in October 2021. Almost a year and a half ago, players started their attempts to avert the apocalypse in this roguelike road trip. After a long time in early access and getting pushed back, Darkest Dungeon 2 was officially released on May 8, 2023.

Darkest Dungeon 2 arrived on multiple platforms. At first, the game was only available on PC through either the Epic Games or Steam digital marketplaces but then it soon arrived on the PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

If you have played the original game, Darkest Dungeon 2 is very similar. Mostly, the team at Red Hook Studios upgraded the mechanics of the first one to make them better. Why fix something if it isn’t broken, right?
One of the biggest changes to the second game is exploration. You can now navigate the world in the stagecoach itself and select from branching paths to explore the world. When in combat, the game is very much a turn-based RPG.
While the world is broken, you and your team are focused on the last glimmer of humanity and seeing it to safety. Throughout your journey, your characters will gain affinity and their relationships will change for better or worse.

You can still purchase the early access version of Darkest Dungeon 2 from the Epic Games Store. Upon full release, it will also be available for purchase from Steam.
