How to defeat the giant squid in Dave the Diver

Dave the Diver will lead you on an adventure through the ocean as you explore the mysteries of the Blue Hole. Along the way, you will learn new mechanics, get additional melee weapons, find ingredients, and complete missions.

When night hits, you will manage the Bancho Sushi Restaurant where you will deal with special customers asking for all types of different foods. Of course, being an adventure RPG, Dave the Diver has many new threats and bosses. You will also always be finding new fish.

When you dive into the ocean, you better have employees to run the restaurant because some of the fish you encounter will keep you busy, especially the Giant Squid boss. Ready your trusty harpoon gun and strap on your oxygen tank. This guide will show you how to defeat the Giant Squid in Dave the Diver.

Dave the Diver – How to defeat the Giant Squid

As you enter the cave containing the Giant Squid, you will find a few crates containing a Basic Underwater Rifle, Air Capsule, and Air Refill. Pick up these crates to prepare for the fight. They should spawn each time you enter the cave, including any return trips you need to make.

You may want to make some preparation by getting upgrades for your harpoon gun. You will also want to make sure you have enough workers to run the sushi bar while you are gone. Finally, make sure you have enough resources like oxygen to make the journey.

Continue into the cave until you find the Giant Squid and initiate the boss fight fight. The squid has a few attacks to watch out for during combat:

• Tentacles:
  • As you swim toward the Giant Squid, you will see various areas of the cave above and below you start to look dusty. Avoid these areas as the Giant Squid will shoot its tentacles out of the walls in these locations. More areas like this will appear as the camera pans closer to the squid.
• Ink Jet:
  • When you get close to the Giant Squid and damage it, it will shoot ink at you. This will push Dave backward into the ancient cave. You will now need to swim back toward the Giant Squid and avoid the tentacles again.
• Melee Attack:
  • After damaging the squid, it will move a tentacle in front of itself for protection before swinging it. Swim back slightly to avoid the tentacle.

The gameplay of the fight is pretty simple. Start by swimming up to the squid. Avoid the tentacles as you go. Once you reach the Giant Squid, shoot its eye when it removes its tentacle. The squid will either use its melee attack or shoot you with ink.

Hit the eye once or twice each time you reach the squid. It will use its ink to shoot you back to the mouth of the cave. Take this opportunity to grab the ammo replenishment and O2 crates. Repeat the steps from earlier until the squid is dead.

Overall, the interaction with the Giant Squid isn’t very difficult and gives you a good taste of boss fights in the game. defeating the Giant Squid will unlock new species of fish for you to use at your sushi business. This fight will also allow you to get new tools and new sushi recipes.
