While you can always play Diablo by yourself and complete the whole game, playing with others is the way Diablo is meant to be played. Luckily, Diablo 4 is going to keep the long-running tradition of being able to play with others alive. Let’s go over how to play multiplayer with others in Diablo 4 and how it works.

How To Play With Friends In Diablo 4 Multiplayer

In order to play multiplayer with others in Diablo 4, you will want to open the game menu and go to your friends list under the social tab and invite whichever friends you want to play with. You will then be placed in the same world as them. This will also mark them so they stand out from other players and provide a constant marker to them in the world.

The way you invite friends works the same no matter which platform you are on be it a console or PC. You simply need to have added your friend via their battletag to be able to invite them. It will also function during the open beta and the upcoming server slam, so you can play together with friends.

Diablo 4 Multiplayer Overview

The Diablo 4 multiplayer system is quite vast, even allowing crossplay for most players. of course, solo play is also always an option if you so desire it. However, you will always see other players as long as you are connected to the internet.

These players will be all over Sanctuary, which really helps the town feel alive compared to previous entries in the franchise. During the early access beta, you will see players much less frequently in the open world.  Perhaps when the full launch of Diablo 4 rolls around in June, the players in the open world will be much denser.

You will more often than not see the most players gathered around world boss events and smaller dungeons that can be found in the open world. However, you don’t need to worry about running into players in your instanced dungeons. Those seem to be private and only accessible to your party members.

Does Diablo 4 Have Local Couch Co-op Multiplayer?

The big question many had was if local co-op would be making a return for Diablo 4 and thankfully it seems to be. All you need is a second controller on any console, both you and a friend will be able to slay demons together. You can also pair up with a group of friends to play multiplayer co-op with two players on the same console.
