With Shadows of Doubt being an open-ended sandbox game, you’re going to find a lot to do. You’ll solve crimes, confront murderers, and investigate the vast city all in search of clues. With all of that space and time to explore, it’s quite possible you could forgo actually reaching the end of the detective simulator.

However, the game does have an ending, but can you get more than one? Here’s what you need to know if you want to roll credits on Shadows of Doubt.

Are there multiple endings for Shadows of Doubt?

No, there are not multiple endings to Shadows of Doubt. When it comes to wrapping up the game, you’ll only be able to get one ending. The developers at ColePowered Games posted a blog all about reaching the end of the game. In the post, they say players should not expect to see numerous quests and story arcs typically found in larger AAA open-world games.

Since Shadows of Doubt is procedurally generated each time you load the game or start over, everything is randomized. However, the one key factor that remains the same is the ending.

You can solve dozens upon dozens of cases, but when it comes to hitting the credits, there’s only one ending you can reach. In order to technically beat the game, you must reach Social Credit 10. This represents your detective level and it’s raised by completing cases. Once you hit level 10, you can access the final case of the game and move on to retirement.

Detectives who hit rank 10 and complete the final mission, can retire and transfer from the created city to The Fields. Only you can’t explore this area as reaching it means you’ve beaten the game.

While you play, you’ll learn more about The Fields and its impact on the world. Without getting into spoilers, it’s a sort of utopia unaffected by the corruption, crime, and murders you encounter in the city.
