With a new flashy battle system and powerful Eikons, many Final Fantasy franchise fans wonder if the game will be a live service. It’s expected because producer Naoki Yoshida played a significant role in the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. As a result, many fans are curious if FFXVI will follow the same route.

Final Fantasy 16’s tale of tragedy and revenge is set to launch on June 22, 2023, in which you can see your favorite mascots, such as the Moogles and Chocobo. But first, you must wonder whether you can play the game online. This guide will detail whether Final Fantasy 16 is a live-service game.

Will Final Fantasy 16 be a live service?

The latest installment of the famous Square Enix franchise, Final Fantasy 16, will not be a live service game like its predecessor, Final Fantasy XIV. It will be an offline, single-player immersive dark fantasy action RPG

As a result, you will play as the protagonist Clive Rosfield, the First Shield of Rosaria. As he goes from being blessed by the Mothercrystals to being blighted. During his adventure across the land of Valisthea, fighting off creatures, Eikons, and their Dominants, there will be more than 35 hours of gameplay to clear, as stated in a Famitsu interview with Hiroshi Takai. You can also expect 11 hours of cutscene, as producer Naoki Yoshida said in a Japanese PlayStation Blog

Though the dark fantasy setting of Final Fantasy XVI will be offline, there is a feature called Final Fantasy Mode. It is an Arcade mode wherein the game will implement a Leader Board for Attack Points. As a result, you can compete against other players around the world.

However, this will not mean Final Fantasy 16 is a Live Service. There is no other gameplay within the game that will feature an online connection to play the game.
