Fortnite is a battle royale game where the goal is to be the last person standing. Naturally, getting to the top requires you to obtain weapons and blast away strangers so you can prove that you are the best of the gamers in the lobby.

Since there are plenty of shooter elements in Fortnite, it is easy to think that there will be a bunch of blood and gore. After all, most other battle royale games contend with a Teen or Mature rating. What about Fortnite? Is there blood in Fortnite?

Does Fortnite have blood and gore?

Fortnite may be a free game with a lot of shooter elements but there is no blood and gore. Epic Games designed the game to be cartoonish. This means that you will see a lot of gunfire, but no blood will come out of the players.

Because there is cartoonish in the game, it is rated T for Teen by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB). Of course, this only applies to the actual gameplay.

No matter if you are playing on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC, or an iOS device or platform like iPhone or iPad, the game’s rating does not cover what other players will do. Just like with other video games with an online mode, your kids can hear offensive language over voice chat.

The rating of the game only covers what players will see in the game such as the combat and does not cover other players’ creativity.

Outside of the combat, Fortnite also has in-game purchases that players can make to obtain skins as well as progress through battle passes in each season. This allows players to spend real money to obtain a virtual currency called V-Bucks.

The use of online elements such as in-game purchases is not covered by the rating board so parents should keep this in mind before allowing kids to play the game if they are uncomfortable with the content. Be sure to always check the content before allowing your kids to play online.
