Cloud Imperium Games’ huge title Star Citizen is in its alpha phase, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to see. Pirates, asteroids, weapons, and more are available to explore, and that includes plenty of places to call home. While new players choose their residence at the start of the game, sometimes you want to change it without having to use the character repair tool.
Have no fear, because we’re here to show you how to change your primary residence in Star Citizen.
Star Citizen – How to move primary residence
If you want to fix where you spawn in Star Citizen so traveling just to get back to where you died isn’t as difficult, without resetting your character, here’s how to do the workaround. Login and pilot to your chosen spaceport. Hop out of your spaceship and head inside.
Once inside, find the medical clinic or hospital. Planets will have hospitals and space stations will have medical clinics, so know what you’re looking for. You’ll want to find the insurance booth inside the medical facility.
Once you’ve found it, head up to the regeneration kiosk, which will be a waist-level station that just says regeneration on the screen. Click on it using the mouse, and two options will pop up on the screen:
- Current Regen Location
- Change Your Preferred Regen Location?
We want to change our preferred regeneration location to our current spot, so under the Primary Residence Facility section, there will be a button that says Reset Location. Click on that button, and it will change your primary residence to your chosen spaceport.
Now you’ve changed your residence, with no mobiGlas required. This will stay the same for each play session. While it isn’t quite being a homeowner, it doesn’t cost any aUEC, which is nice. And no property taxes!

Where can your primary residence be in Star Citizen?
Your primary residence can be set to any location that has a spaceport, from Orison on the planet Crusader to Area 18 on ArcCorp in the Stanton System. This includes both planets and spaceports, so Star Citizen fans have a lot of spots to choose from. If you tend to hang out in one particular area more, it’s best to set up there. However, the universe is the limit, so get your star farer out of the hangar and get exploring.
