How to get and use Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4

Murmuring Obols are one of many in-game currencies featured in Diablo 4. Unlike most of the other currencies, they can only be used at a specific vendor and can only be acquired through one specific method.
How do I get Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4?
To begin with, Murmuring Obols can only be acquired through Local Events. These are different from World Events, like the Ashava event, and usually appear at random spots on the map. While their exact spot is not marked on the map, you will see a large red circle on the mini-map whenever you’re near one. Wandering around on your mount can make the process of finding them easier.
Each Local Event is going to be different from the other, as you will be required to complete a new task every time. For instance, the Caravan Under Siege event requires you to protect single or multiple caravans from a group of enemies, while you will need to defeat a powerful spell-casting boss in the Rise of Ascension event.
Depending on the type of event and how well you do in it, you can expect to earn up to 35 Murmuring Obols. If you’re lucky, you might receive the Murmuring Caches, which can reward you with 50 Murmuring Obols.
How do I use Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4?
Once you’ve managed to get your hands on a good number of Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4, it’s time to use them. For this, you must visit Curiosity Vendors, who can be found at different spots on the map. They aren’t difficult to locate as their location is denoted by a bag sign with a question mark.
Aside from the Whispering Key which is used to unlock Silent Chests, the Curiosity Vendor will not give you a specific item in return for the Murmuring Obols. Instead, it will provide a random item in a specific category. Here’s the full list of categories offered by the vendor:
- Main Hand – 50 Murmuring Obols
- Two-Hand – 75 Murmuring Obols
- Amulet – 60 Murmuring Obols
- Off Hand – 40 Murmuring Obols
- Cap – 40 Murmuring Obols
- Tunic – 40 Murmuring Obols
- Pants – 40 Murmuring Obols
- Ring – 40 Murmuring Obols
- Gloves – 25 Murmuring Obols
- Boots – 25 Murmuring Obols
- Whispering Key – 20 Murmuring Obols
