In Diablo 4, you will pick up plenty of gear as you progress through the game. However, at some point, your inventory will get full, and you will need to get rid of the extra items. Therefore, it is important to learn how to salvage gear in Diablo 4 so you don’t waste it.

How do I salvage my gear in Diablo 4?

To salvage your gear, you need to visit Zivek the Blacksmith. He isn’t difficult to locate, as his location is denoted by an Anvil on the map. However, keep in mind that the Blacksmith won’t get unlocked until you have completed the prologue and reached Kyovashad in the Fractured Peaks.

After visiting the location, interact with the NPC, click the first tab, and choose whatever you desire. You can either salvage all junk. This only works if you previously marked all the items you wanted to salvage as junk.

If there is no junk, you can choose Common, Magic, Rare, or All Items. If you choose a rarity, the Blacksmith will salvage all items belonging to that specific rarity. But if you decide to go with All Items, he will salvage everything except Legendary items.

Salvaging items in Diablo 4 can help you get tons of upgrade materials, such as Iron Chunks, Silver Ore, Veiled Crystals, and more. The type and amount of materials you get in return depends on the type and rarity of the item. The higher the rarity of the salvaged item, the better the quality of the materials.

It is worth noting that there is no option to upgrade your inventory space in Diablo 4. Therefore, the best option is to salvage gear whenever your inventory gets full instead of dropping it. You can also sell your gear for gold if you are short on money.
