The Reaper is a DPS job class you can learn that does not have a base class. Unlike the other classes, the Reaper has a darker aesthetic, and it showed when learning the various traits. If you enjoy the scythe-wielding job class that can inflict massive damage on your enemies, you will be interested in the Reaper job. So, here’s a guide that explains how you can unlock the Reaper in Final Fantasy XIV.

How do you unlock Reaper in Final Fantasy XIV?

You must complete The Killer Instinct quest to unlock the Reaper job in Final Fantasy XIV. However, there are a few prerequisites before you can do so. First and most important, you must have purchased the Endwalker expansion, as it is only available for this expansion. The second is that your level must be 70 or higher in Disciple of Magic or Disciple of War.

Unlocking the Reaper job will be a quest from a Flustered Attendant. You can find this NPC in Ul’dah – Steps of Nald; you can use these coordinates X12.8, Y.8.6 to find him. Once you find him, interact with him to begin The Killer Instinct quest. After interacting with him, you must speak to Jijilyo at the Sapphire Avenue Exchange; you can find her at the coordinates X13.9, Y.11.4. Jijilyo will then tell you to find and talk to Drusilla. She is a Garlean you can find in the Lemures Headquarters.

You can find the Lemures Headquarters in Pearl Lane. To find this location, walk right until you see an Aethernet Shard on your left, and walk up the stairs to enter Pearl Lane. However, before speaking to Drusilla, you must interact with a Loyal Lemure before the Headquarters.

After speaking to Drusilla, there will be a few cutscenes, after which you will complete The Killer Instinct quest. Once you have completed the quest, you will unlock the Reaper Job and obtain the following rewards: Soul of the Reaper, Deepgold War Scythe, and Muzhik Attire Coffer (IL 385).

What is the Reaper’s playstyle in Final Fantasy XIV?

The Reaper is a new jobs class introduced during the Endwalker expansion and is one of five melee DPS jobs. It has an expansive array of attacks you can utilize in battle. Here is a brief walkthrough of how the job works. After you learn the Soul gauge trait, the icon will be displayed, indicating your Soul gauge accumulation. You can accumulate souls using the Reaper’s basic combos: Deaths Design, Shadow of Death, or Whorl of Death.

You can then use Blood Stalk, Grim Swathe, and Gluttony to execute Souls. In addition to the Soul Gauge, you will also be able to learn the Shroud Gauge trait. You can accumulate Shrouds by using the Enshroud attack. However, it does not end here; after this, you will obtain a Death Gauge, in which, using Enshroud, the stacks of Lemure Shroud will be displayed. With these new shrouds, you can execute Void Reaping and Communio.
