Dungeons in Final Fantasy XIV are difficult to complete, especially if you’re new to the game. A lot of new players often struggle to perform well in them, but that is totally okay. To help you out, we are going to mention some Final Fantasy XIV dungeon tips for beginners, which you should follow religiously.

Best tips for beginners for Final Fantasy 14 Dungeons

Below are our seven best tips, but we’ll elaborate further down. Here are the tips:

  • Be patient
  • Understand your role
  • Communicate with your teammates
  • Don’t shy away from choosing greed
  • Use dungeons to level up multiple characters
  • Avoid engaging alone
  • Don’t be Toxic

Be patient

First things first, you must understand that you won’t start performing well in Dungeons overnight, as it will take you a few weeks before you can get the hang of them. Many new players often make the mistake of rushing things, which prevents them from learning the important stuff.

Therefore, keep your expectations low during the first couple of weeks and focus on learning whatever you can. Start with the basics and jump into the advanced stuff later on.

Understand your role

Many new players don’t focus on this, but you shouldn’t follow in their footsteps if you want to get good at Dungeons. Each player in a Dungeon has a role to play, and you must stick to it.

For instance, if you’re playing as a Tank, your job is to stay at the front and take the most amount of damage. In other words, it is up to you to protect your teammates from all sorts of harm. However, if you’re a Healer, you should stay at the back or middle of the pack, as your job is to keep all of your teammates alive. This does not mean that you should avoid dealing damage, though.

Communicate with your teammates

Communication is the key to completing Dungeons quickly and swiftly. Dungeons feature a team of four players, and it is important for them to communicate with each other. While progressing through them, you will come across different challenges which can’t be completed alone. This is the time when you will need to ask for help.

Similarly, it is important to inform your teammates about a move you’re about to make, as this will help them plan accordingly. If no one is communicating, the entire Dungeon run will be chaotic.

Don’t shy away from choosing Greed

This is an important Final Fantasy XIV tip for beginners. If you’re new to the game, you might not be aware of the Need, Greed, and Pass system. This pops up whenever you and your teammates come across a chest filled with goodies.

If an item belongs to your class and can help you greatly during the Dungeon run, choose Need. If you don’t want something specific but still want some portion of the loot, choose Greed. And finally, if you don’t need anything or your stash is already full, press Pass.

Keep in mind that if you get items you don’t need in the Dungeon, you can sell them later in the market for Gils or trade them for seals. Furthermore, there is nothing wrong with choosing Greed, as everyone deserves to get a portion of the loot.

Use Dungeons to level up multiple characters

If you’re someone who has multiple characters, there is no better way to level them up than Dungeons. Each Dungeon run can help you gain tons of experience points, and you should use this opportunity to level up all of your characters. There is no point in doing Dungeons again and again with the same high-level character.

Avoid engaging alone

Many new players are overexcited during their first few Dungeon runs in FFXIV and are trying to take down every enemy, including bosses, on their own. This not only gets them killed quickly but also ruins the experience of the rest of the team.

If you’re a healer or a DPS, don’t try to engage alone. If you try to run ahead of the Tank in your team, you will only put everyone in a tight spot. The Tank is there for a reason, and you should focus only on your role. If you see a group of enemies ahead, don’t attack them unless your teammates are nearby.

Don’t be toxic

The most important thing to remember is that your team consists of real players and not bots. Therefore, don’t be rude or toxic at any point. You must understand that not every player in your team will be able to perform extremely well during the run, and that is totally okay. Some are new to the game, while others might not be in the right mind that day.

In any case, Dungeons are meant to be fun, and you should keep them that way. If you become abusive toward your teammates, you will only ruin the experience of everyone.

These were some Final Fantasy XIV tips for beginners that you can follow. Keep in mind that compared to Raids, Dungeons are easier, but you shouldn’t take them lightly. The combat is challenging, but you can gain tons of XP and get new gear through them.
