Final Fantasy XIV gives players the luxury to customize their characters in whatever way they like. This also includes dyeing clothes and gear. However, the feature isn’t available at the start of the game, which is why many players get confused about how to do it. In this guide, we will explain how to dye clothes in Final Fantasy XIV so you can start changing the appearance of your character.

How can I dye my clothes in Final Fantasy XIV?

Open your inventory and select a piece of clothing. Then, click the Dye icon and follow the on-screen instructions in the menus to change the color of your clothes successfully. You can then change the color of your other outfits, but only if you have more dyes in your inventory.

To dye clothes, you will need to first reach level 15. The option will not become available until you reach this level, so don’t bother trying to find a way to dye your clothes before it. Once done, go to Vesper Bay in Western Thanalan and meet a character named ‘Swyrgeim.’ She will give you a quest called ‘Color Your World.’

The quest is one of the easiest ones to complete in the game, and you will spend only a few minutes on it. It requires you to go to a Local Inn and purchase a bottle of blood orange juice. Then, take this bottle back to Swyrgeim, something that will unlock the ability to dye clothes.

It is important to remember that to dye clothes in Final Fantasy XIV; you need a dye. This can be made using pigments, or you can buy it from NPC vendors or merchants. You’ll also find dyes in the marketplace, but the prices will be ridiculously high. Third-party online stores also sell them in exchange for real money.

Common dyes can be bought for only a few hundred Gils, while rare ones will make a huge dent in your account. You should save the rare ones for specific gear. Some of the dyes you can get in Final Fantasy XIV include:
