The Legend of Zelda has grown in popularity over the decades since the original one was released by Nintendo. A multitude of games have been released on each system with the latest being The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom stands as the sequel to the original Nintendo Switch Zelda title, Breath of the Wild. Not only has this new Zelda title received a new Nintendo Switch OLED model, but it has also received a collector’s edition.

Of course, whenever a collector’s edition is created, there is always the question as to if it is worth the price. Is the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom collector’s edition worth it?

Tears of the Kingdom can be pre-ordered up until the release of the game by going through various retailers like Walmart, Target, Amazon, and Best Buy. You can also purchase the game through GameStop.

Depending on where you purchase the game, you will get different pre-order bonuses such as enamel pins, a wooden plaque, or even a lithograph showing the sprawling landscapes of Hyrule and the vast skies.

The collector’s edition of the game includes the following items:

  • IconArt steel Poster
  • Art Book
  • Pin Set
  • Steelbook Case
  • Physical copy of the game

There are only two Tears of the Kingdom editions – standard and collector’s. The price of the standard edition is $69.99 and only includes the base game while the collector’s edition comes in at $129.99. Almost double the price of the standard version.

Is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom collector’s edition worth it?

Coming in at around $130, the collector’s edition of TotK is one of the more worthwhile that has been showcased in a long time. While other collector’s editions typically come in at around $200 or more, the Tears of the Kingdom copy is significantly cheaper even with the price increases.

Depending on how much of a Zelda fan you are, the collector’s edition is more worthwhile than most. Keep in mind, this version of the game won’t get you early access and you will still need to wait until launch day to play the game and witness Link’s new abilities. At least you can preload the game until then.

Various stores are sold out of the collector’s edition including the Nintendo store. There are other products that you can purchase including the new Link Amiibo as well as a new Switch pro controller. Just make sure you don’t purchase the collector’s edition off eBay where the price tags are already far above what they should be.
