One of the first things you’ll be introduced to in Lords of the Fallen is the Umbral Lamp, which you can use to transition between worlds. However, some of you might not know this, but the lamp can be upgraded into something that can assist you greatly in combat. In this guide, we’ll explain how to upgrade the Umbral Lamp in Lords of the Fallen.

How can I upgrade my Umbral Lamp in Lords of the Fallen?

To upgrade the Umbral Lamp, you will need to visit Molhu in the Umbral Realm. You can find him in Skyrest Bridge, and he will upgrade your lamp if you have the necessary materials. Mohlu can either help you upgrade the lamp or place an Umbral Eye into it.

First things first, you must get your hands on an Antediluvian Chisel, which can be found as loot while exploring the open world of the game or picked up from the corpse of bosses. Without it, you can not upgrade the lamp.

While resources like Deralium are easy to find, which is used to upgrade weapons, Antediluvian Chisels are pretty rare. You won’t be able to get your hands on one until you’ve made some decent progress. But once you do, go and meet Mohlu.

As discussed earlier, Mohlu can be found in the Skyrest Bridge. To visit him, use the staircase in Skyrest Bridge Vestige to reach a dark room. Then, use your Umbral Lamp to enter the Umbral Realm. You will find Mohlu at the center of the room, and he will give you the option to upgrade your Umbral Lamp in Lords of the Fallen using the Antediluvian Chisel.

Upgrading the Umbral Lamp will result in the following changes:

  • Main Umbral Eye Socket
  • 2 Soulflay Charges
  • 1 Secondary Umbral Eye Socket
  • 10% Dread Resistance

For those who don’t know, you will pick up different Umbral Eyes as you progress through the game. Each one offers a different type of effect. Furthermore, the effect will also depend on whether you’re using it as the main or secondary Umbral Eye.

For instance, when placed in the main slot, the Eye of Iorelo the Cursed Knight increases the stun time. However, it increases the Dread resistance of your character by 25% if you place it in the secondary slot. All of your lamp upgrades carry over to new game plus.
