All new characters in Mario Kart 8 Wave 5

The newest wave for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Booster Course Pass is upon us. The DLC for Nintendo’s ultimate kart racing game brings even more fun to the track.

Wave 5, which will include two new cups to go for the gold in, new maps to race on, and of course, new characters to race as if you have already unlocked Gold Mario.

Here are the new characters that were announced at the Nintendo Direct on June 21 if you need to know.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – all new characters in Wave 5

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will be adding three new playable characters to the lineup with the Booster Course Pass Wave 5:

• Wiggler
• Petey Piranha
• Kamek

These three characters, once Wave 5 is released, will be able to be chosen on the select character screen to race with.

Kamek in particular is an exciting addition, as this Magikoopa has never been seen on a console Mario Kart title. He debuted in Mario Kart Tour, which is only available on iOS and Android devices for your phone.

Petey Piranha returns from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Wiggler will be returning to the franchise from Mario Kart 7. All three new additions to the lineup for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have been seen in Mario Kart games as racers before, so it makes sense to bring them back for the latest title in the series.

There will still be more characters released for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the final wave of the Booster Course Pass, so if you’re favorite didn’t make the cut this time, they could be seen in Wave 6 releasing before the end of the year.

There is still no official release date for Wave 5 of the Booster Course Pass, but we did get a glimpse at the newest map that will be in Wave 5, a brand new course called Squeaky Clean Sprint. The track takes you around a bathroom, including a full tub and plenty of suds and soap to drive through.
