When you first create your MyPLAYER in NBA 2K24, with Kobe Bryant as the cover athlete, you will be asked to create a build. In video games, this term can mean a lot of things. Here, it means your body makeup. How tall you are, how much you weigh, your wingspan, preferred position, and more make up your build.
You can be whatever you want to be. If you want to be a seven foot center who can shoot threes, there’s a build for that. Once you’re done in the MyPLAYER builder, is that final or can you change the build after the fact if you don’t like it?

Can I change my build in NBA 2K24?
Unfortunately, you cannot change your build after the fact. Once you finalize it, it’s done. You can go back before it’s finalized, though. If you select a 6’8″ shooting guard that weighs 221 pounds and go to set the attributes, you can return to the previous page. If you want to become a 6’1″ 195 pound point guard, you can. Once you finish the attributes, though, you’re locked in.
You will then begin your MyCAREER journey as that build. Your ability to hit shots, make dunks, earn badges, and dominate on the court do sort of depend on your build, so be sure to choose the right one.
You can face scan yourself with the NBA 2K Companion App, but that only mirrors your facial features. Your build can then be whatever you choose. You may not be this, but your MyPLAYER could be 6’9″ and weight 270 pounds.
The only option is to start over with a new save file, but that’s less than ideal. If you originally wanted to be a center with good rim defense and no longer do, you’d have to start a new file to be the perimeter player who can ball handle well on offense.
Builds do not apply to MyNBA, MyTEAM, or PlayNow mode. NBA 2K24 has been out since September on Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S.
