NBA 2K24 is one of the most exciting video games that are currently in development. The ninth generation of video game consoles got off to a slow start. Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X were released during the peak of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.
Fortunately, their sales numbers have improved, and millions of gamers around the world own these gaming consoles. NBA 2K24 is scheduled to come out soon, and many players can’t wait for its release. For those who are very excited, it’d be a good idea to pre-order the game.
It’s important to note that the game will not be available on every gaming system. Here is everything you need to know about the supported platforms for the September release.
Will NBA 2K24 be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One?
Fortunately, NBA 2K24 will support most modern consoles, and it’ll also be playable on a PC. The upcoming sports title will not be available on next-gen consoles only, which is great news for gamers who own PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Those who haven’t had a chance to get their hands on a next-gen (or current-gen) console don’t need to worry. NBA 2K24 will be available on old-gen gaming systems, but these systems will have certain limitations.
For the first time in the history of the video game, gamers will be able to use cross-play. Unfortunately, it appears that the amazing crossplay feature will only be available on next-gen consoles, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. ProPlay, a new gaming engine that makes the gameplay significantly more realistic, is also exclusive to next-gen. The PC version doesn’t even have this.
Considering how important this feature is, it won’t be surprising if many gamers decide to upgrade their gaming systems. All game modes will be present for any version of 2K24, with Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant starring as the cover star. The digital 25th Anniversary Edition, Kobe Bryant Edition, Black Mamba Edition, and the WNBA Edition (starring Sabrina Ionescu) will be available to all platforms. The cover athlete changes for these, as do the pre-order bonuses, but the gameplay doesn’t.
Besides PlayStation and Xbox, the basketball video game will also be available on Nintendo Switch and PC. PC players will be able to obtain the video game through Steam, but it won’t be surprising if NBA 2K24 eventually comes to the Epic Games Store as well. When it releases, hop into on-court NBA action, MyCAREER, play with LeBron James, and so much more.
