The W in NBA 2K24 is the WNBA game mode, where you can play as WNBA stars Candace Parker, Sabrina Ionescu (the cover athlete), and WNBA teams like the Las Vegas Aces or Los Angeles Sparks. Current-gen players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S can do a lot in this mode, whether that’s pursuing greatness on the court, competing in street games, earning rewards, or anything else.
The W, like many of 2K’s game modes, is changing for 2K24. The mode itself is not brand new, but it has received an overhaul for better basketball gameplay and more.

What is The W in NBA 2K24?
The W can be a revamped MyCareer mode. In it, players have two options to live out their WNBA dreams. They can either enter the WNBA as a college basketball sensations or as an up-and-coming player with international experience. You will join this year’s rookies and begin from there. You can then play this player’s full career.
The W’s off-day events are changing a little bit in NBA 2K24 as one of the new features. Now, players can earn badges and perks by competing against a veteran from your team, a star player you’re in a position to battle with, and historic legends in pick-up games.
The W gives rewards that allow players to upgrade their avatars in any game mode. They can be used in MyPlayer, MyCareer, MyTeam, and more. New rewards include:
- Breakthrough skins
- Badge perks
- Boosts
- Virtual Currency
- MyTeam points
This will be live when the game releases in September. It will not be available on the versions of the game for PC or Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders are available now.
