The Need for Speed series is back this year with another 5 speed manual, high torque, road tearing race experience. Can we expect more of the same? Is Need for Speed Unbound open world? Not only is NFS Unbound’s map huge, it will incorporate lots of features from older games too.

Yes, Need for Speed Unbound is open world. Just as many previous renditions have had before, Unbound will have open world gameplay. Whilst the game will, of course, still lean heavily on the racing and car upgrading, there is a free-roam world surrounding you at all times. Dive into the colorful world of Lakeshore City, based of Chicago and fairly similar in layout and development. Despite there being plenty of races, there’s just as many open world challenges like jumps, time-trials, Speed Traps and explorable areas, like bridges and train tracks to manoeuvre through just like in Chicago, IL.
So yes, Need for Speed Unbound is open world, but players should not expect a complete degree of freedom that you might expect from Rockstar games, for example. This is still primarily a racing game.
