Overwatch 2 is filled with a lot of content. So much, that it can be hard to keep track of it all. With Season 6: Invasion coming, there’s even more content being added to the already huge game.

There’s a new hero coming as soon as the season starts. There are new game modes, new maps, and plenty more. Of course, with all the content being added, does that mean a celebrity hero is on its way in?

Is John Cena himself coming to Overwatch 2? We’re here to let you know all the details about how John Cena connects to the Overwatch sequel.

Is John Cena coming to Overwatch 2?

No, John Cena will not be added to Overwatch 2 in-game. He will not be added as an NPC, or as a playable character.

These rumors came from John Cena being unmasked as the Enigma, a mysterious figure hacking into Overwatch 2 streams. The Overwatch community quickly realized these hacks were actually promotions for the new season, Invasion, as a way to build hype for the story missions being added to the game.

Many fans were hoping that the WWE superstar and actor would make an appearance in-game once the Enigma was revealed. Unfortunately for them, Cena’s involvement with the game only extends to the promotional material he’s been in, hacking into Twitch streams to promote the game.

Blizzard has a reason for generating hype around the game, as a new season is coming. Invasion, Season 6, has the worldwide threat of Null Sector taking over, and you’ll be able to face them in the new story missions about the omnic uprisings that take place in Rio de Janeiro, Gothenburg, and Toronto. New and former agents of Overwatch will band together to take them down, as seen in the Invasion trailer.

The new story missions featuring PvE aren’t the only mode coming, the new Flashpoint game mode will be added along with the Invasion story missions, as well as a new support hero to play as. All this is coming this August for fans of the game on all consoles to preload, including Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
