What weapons and guns are the best in Starfield? There are plenty of rifles, pistols, shotguns, laser rifles, particle beam rifles, and more in the universe but they aren’t all made equal. Some weapons simply have better mods and increased damage per shot.

In combat, you want the best of the best. It is true when it comes to companions and it is true when it comes to weapons. Every mission encounter will present a challenge and you need to have the ability to overcome it.

Fill your arsenal with the best of everything from skills and traits that increase your stats to spacesuits that will keep you protected. If you want, mod the game to make everything better. Here are the best weapons and guns in Starfield.

Best weapons and guns in Starfield

We have broken down what we think are some of the best weapons you can get either from finding them in the universe or getting them as a reward for completing quests.

  1. Keelhauler
  2. The Last Priest
  3. Big Bang
  4. Gallow’s Reach
  5. Eternity’s Gate
  6. Unmitigated Violence

Let’s talk about why each one of these weapons is so good.

Keelhauler

The Keelhauler is a legendary pistol in Starfield with the following effects:

  • Staggering – Small chance to stagger enemies
  • Berserker – Does more damage the less armor you have
  • Frenzy – Small chance to frenzy a target

Not only is this weapon powerful and can stagger foes fairly consistently, but it also has a powerful shot to boot. You can obtain the Keelhauler by completing the Echoes of the Past faction quest for the Crimson Fleet. With this weapon, you aren’t a hunter, you are a deadly space pirate.

The Last Priest

The Last Priest is a melee weapon with a powerful 85 damage. This weapon has a rare effect called elemental that applies a random elemental effect such as corrosive, radiation, poison, or incendiary, to your attacks.

To obtain this powerful weapon, you need to complete the Infinity’s End side quest. You need to side with the Hunter in the Unearthed quest to obtain this weapon.

Big Bang

Regarded as one of the most powerful weapons in existence, the Big Bang is a partible beam shotgun. While it doesn’t have any rare effects on it, it can have a ton of different mods on it which can be used to turn it into a legendary weapon. The following mods are available for it:

  • Amplifier
  • Annihilator Rounds
  • Double Barrel Muzzle
  • Ergonomic Stock
  • Extended Barrel
  • Focal Lens
  • Focus Nozzle
  • Iron Sights
  • Laser Sight
  • Long Barrel
  • Overclocked
  • Recon Laser Sight
  • Reflex Sight
  • Standard Barrel
  • Standard Magazine

Gallow’s Retreat

Gallow’s Reach is a unique weapon in Starfield but looking at it you would realize that it is an AK-47 rifle. This weapon randomly hits enemies with poison rounds that deal damage and slow them down.

If you want to get your hands on this weapon, you will need to stead it from Captain Petrov’s room on The Scow during the No Sudden Moves mission.

Eternity’s Gate

Eternity’s Gate is a particle beam rifle that is reminiscent of the shape of fusion rifles from Destiny 2. It has the following effects on it:

  • Handloading (rare effect) – Has volatile rounds that pack a bigger punch
  • Skip Shot (legendary effect) – Every fourth shot first two projectiles
  • Anti-Personnel (legendary effect) – Additional damage against human enemies

Not only does this weapon deal more damage against humans (the most prevalent enemy in the game) but it also can fire an additional projectile making it even more powerful. You can get Eternity’s Gate by siding with the Hunter during Unearthed and defeating the Emissary.

Unmitigated Violence

The final weapon on our list is the laser rifle called Unmitigated Violence. This weapon packs a punch and has the following effects:

  • Frenzy – Chance to send enemies into a frenzy
  • Radioactive – Randomly deals radioactive damage
  • Instigating – Dead double damage when a target is at full health

Considering this weapon already has a high damage rating, the Instigating perk allows you to one-shot a good number of weaker foes. The other perks are just giving on the cake since they demoralize enemies or send them into a frenzy.
