Who are the best companions in Starfield? Should you side with your Constellation counterparts like Sam Coe and Sarah Morgan? Why not go with characters you have known since the beginning like Heller, Lin, Vasco, or Barrett?
Each companion in Starfield comes with their own set of abilities, skills, and weapons. While one might be good at piloting, another might be good at stealth and pickpocketing. With so many companions to choose from, it can be hard to determine which one is best for you.
As you explore the various planets of the universe, you may not always make the most moral of choices, because of this, you don’t want a companion who always sticks to the rules. Of course, the other side of the spectrum can also be bad. Here are the best companions in Starfield.
Best companions in Starfield
When it comes to companions in Starfield, there are some that stand above the rest. Here are our picks for the top companions:
- Sarah Morgan
- Adoring Fan
- Vasco
- Andreja
- Sam Coe
- Marika Boros
Let’s break down why each of these companions deserves to be considered one of the best.
Sarah Morgan
Sarah Morgan is one of the worst companions but also one of the best at the same time. She has the Astrodynamics, Lasers, Leadership, and Botany skills which are all great and some even help during combat.
The main downside to Sarah is that she is too much of a ‘goody two-shoes’ type of character meaning that any morally ambiguous decision you might make will be disliked by her. While she is great, keep in mind that you will need to stick to the straight and narrow path to romance her.
Adoring Fan
The Adoring Fan is only able to be gotten if you choose the trait at the start of the game. However, if you do get the trait, you will be given a great companion who doesn’t mind you doing the occasional evil act like stealing a ship or murdering someone in the streets.
The Adoring Fan comes equipped with the Scavenging, Concealment, and Weight Lifting skills that will help you find more items in the world and carry more of said items.
Vasco
Vasco is your first official companion in the game who joins you after meeting Barrett at the end of the introduction. This robot doesn’t mind you committing the occasional crime like theft and will come with you on all of your adventures.
Vasco comes with the Aneutronic Fusion, Shield Systems, and EM Weapons Systems skills, making them an excellent choice for increasing your ship’s capabilities.
Andreja
If you want a companion who is great at stealth, look no further than Andreja. She has the Stealth, Particle Beams, Energy Weapons Systems, and Theft skills, making her great in space and on land. She can stealth kill almost any enemy in the game and can even turn invisible while sneaking.
While there are many companions in the game, Andreja is one of the most worthwhile thanks to her nice mix of combat and space skills.
Sam Coe
Sam is a companion you will get early in the game as well who also comes from Constellation. He comes equipped with the Piloting, Rifle Certification, Payloads, and Geology skills. This good mixture of skills makes him an asset no matter where you are.
He also comes equipped with a powerful rifle and the ability to show you why the Rifle Certification skill fits him so well. Like Sarah Morgan, he is found in New Atlantis.
Marika Boros
Marika Boros is a previous Freestar Ranger. As such, she comes with the Ballistics, Shotgun Certification, and Particle Beam Weapon Systems skills. All of these skills will help you tremendously whether you are in space or on the ground.
In combat, Marika excels just like Sam Coe, except she has a shotgun that will heavily damage foes and isn’t afraid to get into the thick of combat.
