How long will it take you to beat Starfield? Other Bethesda titles like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout are known for having incredibly long playtimes. Previous games from Bethesda Game Studios have had tons of side content that has kept gamers invested far beyond what the main story holds.

It is safe to say that Starfield, like other Bethesda RPGs, will have plenty of side-quests and extra content for you to complete. This extra content will be sure to keep a majority of players busy for a long time after it releases in September. Bethesda’s previous titles, like Skyrim Special Edition, have been known to keep going in terms of popularity.

There was some murmuring during the Xbox games showcase, but that was more to clarify that Starfield’s release date was coming, not so much what is coming with the game. With tons of planets to explore and a bunch of skills to unlock, there is plenty to experience in Starfield. Get your game pass ready to play, you may need a fairly long subscription. How long can you expect to play Starfield for? How long is Starfield?

Starfield Game Length – How long to finish

Starfield, as mentioned by Starfield game director Todd Howard during an IGN interview, will be around 30-40 hours long. That is if you decide to only play the main story and ignore the side content. Some may even be able to complete the game quicker than Howard’s estimate. Microsoft wants Starfield to be the start of future brands and franchises to blow up under these kinds of teams.

Those who wish to brave the mountain of side missions and tackle the real meat of the gameplay, will most likely triple or even quadruple that estimate. After all, Pete Hines stated at Gamescom that he was currently “150-160 hours into the game.” This is while the Bethesda boss is looking for every single issue he can find so that the game is perfected and can let player’s mileage grow with time.

Judging by what Pete Hines said, there appears to be enough optional content that you can ignore the main story for a long time. This sounds very similar to previous Bethesda games like Skyrim which has enough content in it to last over 100 hours. As the Starfield map size is vast, if you want to complete all side missions and optional content, you may need around 100 to 120 hours to complete the game fully. We estimate that it will take 140 hours or more to thoroughly explore Starfield if you want to experience everything. However, that is merely a prediction.

These estimates are definitely promising for the overall amount of content in Starfield and will definitely put your PC or Xbox Series X/S to work. There is no doubt that the modding community is excited to get their hands on the game as they will most likely make the space journey even longer.
