Modding in Starfield is one of the top things players are looking forward to for the new release. One burning question has been on the minds of fans of the gaming giant as they eagerly await the launch of Starfield: will it be moddable?

The Bethesda modding community has achieved legendary status, with titles like Skyrim and Fallout becoming playgrounds for creative modders who introduce a plethora of modifications each year. These mods can transform a game, ranging from challenging gameplay tweaks and enhanced graphics to the downright bizarre, like the infamous Skyrim mod that swaps dragons for Thomas the Tank Engine.

Make sure you read up on the Starfield Creation Engine 2, that you have saved enough to purchase it, and that you have the correct Xbox console.

Is Starfield Moddable?

Yes, the newest original IP from Bethesda, Starfield, will have mod support. During Gamescom 2023, Bethesda’s Pete Hines confirmed that Starfield mods will allow for new quests, planets, stories, and even more. This was confirmed to MP1st during a Women in Gaming! Stream. Todd Howard, the director of Bethesda Game Studios also confirmed this himself. During a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session in 2021, a fan inquired about the modding prospects in the Creation Engine 2 for Starfield.

Todd Howard responded, “Our plan is to have full mod support like our previous games.” He emphasized, “Our modding community has been with us for 20 years. We love what they do and hope to see more make a career out of it.”

In preparation for Starfield’s imminent arrival, Nexus Mods has already launched a dedicated hub for the game – the Starfield Hub. This platform will undoubtedly become a hotbed of creativity, as the community Howard spoke of gathers to inject their imaginative alterations into the game.

Fans who have a passion for modding can hit the ground running, implementing their unique ideas and creations as soon as the game launches this September. The majority of mods cater to PC players, but Bethesda has provided support for porting select mods to consoles, allowing a larger audience to experience the creativity of mods.
