EX Moves in the Street Fighter series are special moves that you can perform with each fighter. Street Fighter 6, changes things up with the standard Street Fighter formula that Capcom has perfected over the years and brings in new moves as well as new game modes.

While you can still perform your standard punch, kick, and combos in Street Fighter 6, there are many maneuvers that have been changed up. This is a brand new fighting game and you will need to get used to playing all over again. This guide will show you how to do EX moves in Street Fighter 6.

Can you perform ex moves in Street Fighter 6?

No. Technically speaking, EX moves don’t officially exist in Street Fighter 6. Instead, these moves have been replaced by the Overdrive abilities that use the Drive Gauge.

EX moves have appeared in multiple Street Fighter games. When using one of these abilities in the past, it would cause your character to flash yellow before performing the maneuver. Now, you must rely on the Drive Guage to initiate each character’s special moves, including your own character.

EX moves in Street Fighter 6 have instead been changed to overdrive moves. To perform an overdrive attack, you need to press two similar attack button types like a medium punch or heavy kick while also performing a special move.

An example of how to perform an attack like this can be seen in Ryu’s Shoryuken. To perform this maneuver, you hit Up, Down, Up, and press the punch button twice. Depending on what system you are using, you will either need to hit the X button on Xbox or the square button on PlayStation.

Performing this action will allow you to use an upgraded version of Ryu’s Hadoken that deals great damage at the cost of some of the Drive Gauge. This mechanic is one that allows you to turn normal attacks into more powerful abilities.

Other abilities you have access to are Drive Rush and Drive Parry. Make sure to use these moves to throw off your opponent and deplete their health quickly.
