Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Season 4 brought in multiple additions to the game but the biggest is perhaps the new Vondel map. This map is fairly large, being comparable in size to Al Mazrah and Ashika Island.

Those who are joining during the season can play DMZ and Resurgence on this map with Battle Royale mode possibly coming later on. Vondel has many points of interest (POIs) for fans to explore like the stadium, city hall, police station, and more, but is Vondel in Warzone 2 based on a real-life location?

Warzone 2 – Vondel real-life inspiration

There are a lot of maps that are inspired by real-life locations with Vondel being one of them. Vondel is based on Amsterdam in the Netherlands. This is not the first time a Modern Warfare map has taken inspiration from real-life locations. Campaign missions like Wetwork and Tradecraft are also based in Amsterdam. Other maps like Amsterdam from Black Ops Cold War are based in the Netherlands as well.

There are two game modes currently available for players to try out on the new map with more coming later on. Vondel is one of the few resurgence maps in the game and can support up to 72 players.

The map has plenty of locations for close-quarters combat as well as some great verticality for those who prefer to play the distance game.

While traversing the map, players can look at multiple points of interest inspired by real-life locations such as:

  • Cruise Terminal
  • Zoo
  • Central Station
  • Graveyard
  • Mall

There are plenty of other points of interest such as Vondel’s Castle area. The map also contains a historic district and greater metropolis to search as well as an extensive river network.

The map was created by Beenox, the developer of the popular map Rebirth Island. There are plenty of chambers, buildings, crypts, passageways, and pavilions to explore around the map that is sure to interest players.

As you explore the map, make sure to take note of where the areas of interest are and where you can locate buy stations.
