Link has been the protagonist of the Legend of Zelda series since the original release way back in 1987. Since the inception of the series, Link has always been the silent protagonist, going about his duties and helping Zelda without saying a single word.

Most of the Zelda games over the years have had a lack of voice acting including fan-favorites like Oracrina of Time and Majora’s Mask. Of course, there are many changes that have happened since then. There was even some voice acting in Breath of the Wild. So will Link talk in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?

Link has never been a character with a strong vocabulary. Most of the sounds you ever hear him make throughout the games are various grunts and yells from getting hit or swinging his sword. Of course, Breath of the Wild brought many changes to the series, including voice actors for many characters.

It has already been confirmed that Zelda, Ganondorf, and King Khoam will all have speaking roles. There are even voice actors for all the champions of Hyrule. Link even has his own voice actor and it is Kengo Takanashi. Takanashi is the same person who voiced Link in Breath of the Wild.

There are many changes coming to Tears of the Kingdom. It has already been shown that the Master Sword is broken and Link will have amazing new abilities. Nintendo has even shown off some amazing vehicle crafting that is sure to appease fans.

Despite all the new additions, the odds are that Link will remain the silent protagonist. There is no real reason for him to speak. If he does, fans speculate that it will come during a time of emotional distress. There was a brief scene shown of Link jumping after Zelda. Perhaps he will call out Zelda’s name during this time, but it is unlikely.
