With the new RTX 4060 release, we get a good lower choice of the Ada range. So we see the capabilities of the two and see if the RTX 4060 Ti and 4060 are good for 1440p. With that more entry-level choice, it may be harder for the performance to reach that level, as the cards are more likely to aim for 1080p performance instead. So if you are looking at where to buy the 4060 models you’ll know what they are capable of achieving in terms of performance.

Is the RTX 4060 good for 1440p?

Now with reviews out and ready, the RTX 4060 benchmarks as shown by Techspot are in. And with an average of 15 games at 1440p we get a good look at what it can achieve on average. There we see the card achieve an average of 61 FPS, so it certainly is palatable and not too terrible but it certainly is limiting.

It’s not a performance that will sit and work for a good while. Especially considering the VRAM is very limited on the card and with the bandwidth that’s available to it. That means that for higher textures and intense games, you will be limited, and the performance lows might be more affected when looking at that card which would ruin the experience. Obviously running upscaling will negate that more and improve it but not all titles feature it so it’s not definite to fall back on. That means the card isn’t ideal for 1440p.

Is the RTX 4060 Ti good for 1440p?

With the RTX 4060 Ti release the Ada series got a lot more affordable, and so is the RTX 4060 Ti good for 1440p. Coming in with an MSRP of $399/$499 (for the 8GB/16GB models), it has come as a good replacement for the RTX 3060 Ti. That graphics card was and still is a popular choice among gamers, as providing good value for the performance it can achieve, the successor should provide a good choice too.

And in fact, the RTX 4060 Ti is potentially the next best GPU for those more budget-orientated builds. As it comes in with the same MSRP as the base model, and with the performance improvements it provides generational advantages. This means it will improve in the performance of it at the same level. Although the benchmarks provided by Nvidia currently only show DLSS 3, it still shows about 1.15x the performance gains over the 3060 Ti.

The Techspot review of the 4060 Ti 8GB shows us an average of 78FPS at 1440p. Therefore it is ok for 1440p performance as 60FPS is the base rate you should be aiming for when after a good gaming experience. Especially as you’ll be able to adjust the settings to likely push that even more.

Is the 4060 Ti good for 1440p 144Hz gaming?

From the same benchmarks, we can see that the card can achieve an average of 78FPS, which in fact isn’t ideal for 144Hz as you’d need to aim for at least 144 FPS. However, you might be able to adjust the settings to push that even further as you might not need to run it at the highest graphics settings. You will be able to utilize some upscaling as well to ensure you can achieve that framerate mark but on pure rasterization, it can’t quite achieve it but it will depend on the game, more likely Epsorts titles than AAA games.
