We all know that CS2 is on the way, Counter-Strike 2 has to be one of the most highly anticipated games of the year, maybe even the decade. With the potential release date drawing ever near, fans have a close eye on everything CS2 related. A possible Mini Map Easter Egg appears in CS2’s new Twitter Banner
Fans on Reddit have spotted an eater egg that has appeared in the new CS2 Twitter banner.
Update: It has now been confirmed that the Dragon in the Twitter banner was related to Overpass, as CS2 gets the overhauled Overpass map in the July 17th update.
A user on Reddit by the name of u/GGDropcom_Off has posted Counter-Strike 2′s new Twitter banner change, questioning why it’s happened.
GGDropcom had this to say on Reddit:
The Redditor is calling for all those Twitter detective types out there to figure out why the banner has changed, and what it might mean for the ongoing CS2 beta.
There are a few different suggestions in the comments, but the most puzzling discovery is the reveal of an ester egg when the image is overexposed.
Reddit user Kayuuti posted the following overexposed image in the comments:
As you can plainly see, the top right of the image holds what appears to be a section of mini-map along with a mischievous smiley face.
What could this mean?
What does the mini-map image mean?
Many people on the Reddit post seem to think that it either means Overpass is coming to the CS2 beta, Cobblestone is coming back, or it’s related to the DragonLore AWP skin.
We think the Skin option is the least likely, as Valve has way higher priorities right now than making skins for a game they’re trying to meet a deadline on. It could mean that an artist is creating more skins like the Dragon Lore, but that seems unlikely too.
The most likely scenario is related to the two maps mentioned in the Reddit post. It’d be great to see either of these maps in the CS2 beta. Maps getting added means sweet, sweet progression. And it’s one step closer to Counter-Strike 2 being released.
A Reddit user by the name of Tostecles thinks that it may be the new artwork for Overpass and that the update comes today, Thursday 13th of July. This comment was made on a different Reddit post.
For now, try as we might, we can’t match it up to any current maps on CS: GO, not Cobblestone nor Overpass. But this minimap snippet could be the NEW version of the map that they’re adding to CS2. In that case, it wouldn’t really be a clue, more of a hint at what’s to come.
