The adored and unfinished RPG – based on D&D – is still in the works with the team over at Larian Studios. Though Baldur’s Gate 3 is in Early Access and has been since 2020, every few months it sees a new update which adds a series of new content to the game. Patch 6 saw the addition of Sorcerers, new spells and the entirely new area, Grymforge. With each of these patches comes a bigger and newer handful of additions to the game. Though, there’s still so much more we’re not seeing.

Considering the game is based off the critically acclaimed TTRPG Dungeons & Dragons, it’s got a lot to work with. Including the addition of all the spells, classes, sub-classes, races and so much more. And while the Early Access only stays in one place and cuts off before the main cusp of the game, there’s still 100 hours worth of playtime there. Including all the various playthroughs players can try out.

Though it’s now worth wondering, what will be added in Patch 7? Furthermore, the classic chaotic team over at Larian have left a cryptic note on what we might expect but it’s proving harder to figure out than we might have thought…

Classes

There are still a few classes that BG3 is missing. These are:

  • Paladin
  • Bard
  • Barbarian
  • Monk
  • Artificer (?)

With all of the previous big patches, there’s been the addition of a class. So it’s not out of the question to expect another one to be added. As for which, there’s not really any clue as to which. Though, considering last was Sorcerer, it’s possible we might see a melee class instead. So we might expect Bard or Barbarian? I wouldn’t put too much hope on seeing a Monk class just yet, as they would need the most work, with the addition of Ki Points and the special abilities linked to them. Whereas Paladin and Bard are both spellcasters, something the game’s code is familiar with. And Barbarian would be another potential bet, with it’s more simple playstyle and in-game mechanics.

My bet? Bard. Auntie Ethel uses a lot of Bard spells and mechanics, so it’s safe to assume that the game already has some bard coding and features in it. But that’s just a guess!

Spells

With the enormous repertoire of spells at player’s disposal in traditional D&D, it’s likely we’ll see some new spells being added as Larian slowly but surely expand on their own spell pool. As for which, it’ll probably be spells linked to the class that’ll be released alongside the patch.

New Areas

While last patch did introduce Grymforge, I don’t think there will be another new area added to the game. Other than some fixes to the current one, I think they’ll work on fine tuning Grymforge and smoothing it out before they add a new area. Then again, I could be completely incorrect.

That’s it for now, but we’ll keep you up to date when the official release is out and what it entails. Remember, you won’t be able to use your previous save with this new patch. So if you’ve got a save you need to finish up, now’s the time!
