Bungie Teases Upcoming Destiny 2 Season, More News On June 9th

As Destiny 2’s Season of the Worthy comes to a close, fans are naturally eager to hear more about developer Bungie’s plans for the future of the popular multiplayer looter shooter. Seemingly more than happy to play along, Bungie has left a trail of breadcrumbs for players to follow as they sleuth out what’s next for Destiny 2.

After running for the better part of seven months, including four separate ten-week-long seasons, the Shadowkeep expansion is set to wind down on June 9th with the end of the final Season of the Worthy that began back in early March. With new weapons, bounties, map rejigs, and a well-received Battle Pass, Shadowkeep has been a resounding success.

Rather perfectly, developer Bungie has penciled in the next big Destiny 2 tease for June 9th at 9 am PDT to coincide with the end of the current season. The news comes courtesy of a post on the official Destiny Instagram account, which teases familiar Destiny character, Eris Morn, navigating the icy crevices and expanses of a snowy planet dotted by snow-capped ridges. The world bears an uncanny resemblance to Jupiter’s icy moon, Europa – a location Destiny 2 has yet to explore.

The tease appears to line up with information in a blog post published on Bungie’s official website late last week by Bungie’s Communications Director, David Dague. While the post served as a weekly update for fans, it also included a nugget on what players can expect from the June 9th reveal, ‘You’ll learn about the next season of Destiny 2 at the same time that we talk about the next chapter in this story that has been unfolding all year long.’

The wording makes it difficult to ascertain precisely what’s on the cards for the future of Destiny 2. We could be looking at another massive multi-season expansion or at a new world to explore as part of the next season, presumably the icy Europa.

Either way, June 9th is approaching at a rapid pace, and Destiny 2 fans don’t have long to wait to find out more.
