So as a lot of you may know, there’s a Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary stream later tonight. A known insider has teased that Crisis Core may be making an appearance at the show.

Crisis Core Teased

Now, it’s important to recognise that the above tweet could represent two things. The image itself is cropped to specifically focus on Zack and Aerith, two focus characters of Crisis Core and likely two of the most marketable characters for any given Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core remaster or remake. This lends itself to the idea that perhaps The Snitch is teasing some form of Crisis Core related announcement for tonight.

However, there’s also four boxes in the above tweet and it’s possible that the colours could refer to different systems that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is getting ported to. The blue would be the PlayStation, the green would be the Xbox, the red would be the Switch and the black would be the Epic Games Store (which is where you can currently buy the game). The only thing currently holding back this theory is that the game is already available on two of these systems, and the Switch would struggle greatly to run a game like Final Fantasy 7 Remake unless it’s done through the same system as Kingdom Hearts, with cloud-based game. If it is Crisis Core related, then maybe the Remaster will release across all four of these platforms.

Who is The Snitch?

The Snitch is a known leaker that sprung up around the time of the last State of Play. So far they’ve leaked the existence of Persona 3, 4 and 5 on Xbox, the fact that Hollow Knight: Silksong would be shown off at the Xbox showcase, the entirety of the State of Play slate before it happened, Overwatch 2 going free-to-play and more. They’ve not been wrong at all yet, so it’s worth trusting this leak and expecting one of the two above scenarios to happen later tonight at the stream.
